the most common needle used for cross-stitch is a 24 or 26. As in the fabric gauges, the higher number is a smaller needle. Size 24 is usually for fabric at 14 counts and lower, while size 26 is for 16 count and greater. Sharper needles must be used when stitching with Waste Canvas.
