Joseph Leonard, born 1940. American physician and molecular geneticist; co-winner, with Michael S. Brown, of the Nobel prize for medicine or physiology in 1985 for their discoveries about the regulation of cholesterol metabolism and the treatment of diseases caused by abnormally high levels of cholesterol in the blood.
