| cardiac rehabilitation |
a program recommended for patients who have had a heart attack, angina, congestive heart failure, or other forms of heart disease or those who have undergone heart surgery. A cardiac rehabilitation program includes counselling and information about the patient's condition; a supervised exercise program; lifestyle and risk factor modification programs such as smoking cessation, information on nutrition and controlling high blood pressure; and emotional and social support.
