bronchi- The airways that lead from the trachea to each lung, and then subdivide into smaller and smaller branches. They connect to the bronchioles. The walls of the bronchi are made of smooth lining tissue (called endothelium) over fibrous connective tissue, cartilage, and smooth muscle. They also have many glands to produce mucus.
