generic term usually denoting a stalk-like bundle of connecting nerve fibers. P. Cerebral: The robust bundles of fibers located bilaterally in the ventral midbrain (See basis pedunculi). P. Cerebellar: Large bundles of fibers that connect the cerebellum with the midbrain (superior cerebellar peduncle or brachium conjunctivum), pons (middle cerebellar peduncle or brachium pontis) and medulla oblongata (inferior cerebellar peduncle or restiform body).
