| creatinine |
A waste product produced by the muscles. The creatinine clearance rate is an important measure of kidney function and is measured regularly in kidney disease. It is worked out by measuring the amount of creatinine in the blood - if you have higher than normal levels, it suggests that the kidneys are not removing creatinine efficiently and that their function may be inadequate.
