| ultraviolet radiation |
electromagnetic radiation in the wavelength range from 100 to 400 nanometers. It is shorter and more energetic than visible light but has essentially the same composition. Depending on its wavelength, it penetrates skin to different levels (more deeply in the case of UVA than UVB) and triggers different biological effects.
