Natural inward curve of the lower spine. Lumbar Region: Area of the lower spine commonly referred to as the lower back. Technically , the lumbar vertebrae are the five spinal segments just above the sacrum or tailbone. Lumbar Support: Part of a chair backrest that supports the muscles of the lumbar region when sitting upright and promotes lordosis of the lumbar spine when reclining.
