removes the white bounding rectangle around a sprite. Artwork within the boundaries is opaque. Matte functions much like the Lasso tool in the Paint window in that the artwork is outlined rather than enclosed in a rectangle. Matte, like Mask, uses more RAM than the other inks, and sprites with this ink animate more slowly than other sprites.

Maxwell's demon...James Maxwell the famous 1880s scientist joked about a very tiny demon which might be pressed into service to separate quickly moving molecules from slower molecules by operating a trap door between two chambers. Such a device could be used to make perpetual motion possible.

beads have a velvety, "frosted" surface, rather than a shiny or reflective surface. This is a relatively new thing which the Japanese are pioneering, and the resulting beads are wonderful. All matte beads recede visually next to any shiny bead. Matte colors are rich like greasy glass. Abbreviated MAT, finish type 3.
