an often fatal disease occurring most often in men, characterized by endovasculitis of the skin, gastrointestinal tract, and sometimes other organs, resulting in ischemic infarction of involved tissues. Cutaneous lesions occur in crops of erythematous papules that become umbilicated with characteristic porcelain-white centers with telangiectatic borders, many of which atrophy and leave white scars. Called also Degos' disease or syndrome.

a highly fatal viral disease of cattle and other ungulates, characterized by exudative inflammation of mucous membranes, especially in the mouth, digestive tract, and respiratory tract, with corneal opacities, encephalitis, and enlargement of lymph nodes. The cause is thought to be a herpesvirus. Called also bovine malignant catarrh and malignant catarrh of cattle.
