| Legionnaires' disease |
a severe multi-systemic illness caused by Legionella pneumophila bacteria that can affect not only the lungs but also the gastrointestinal tract, central nervous system, and kidneys. It has a long incubation period (4-10 days), and while only 2%-3% of those infected with the bacteria contract the disease, the disease can be fatal.
