sinking in of the eyeball, ptosis of the upper eyelid, slight elevation of the lower lid, constriction of the pupil, narrowing of the palpebral fissure, and anhidrosis and flushing of the affected side of the face; caused by a brain stem lesion on the ipsilateral side that interrupts descending sympathetic nerves.
