In the left flow tract, blood enters the left atrium through the pulmonary veins, flows through the mitral valve into the left ventricle, and passes through the aortic valve and on into the aorta and systemic circulation. In the right flow tract, blood enters the right atrium through the venae cavae, flows through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle, and passes through the pulmonary valve and on into the pulmonary artery and the pulmonary circulation.
