| erythroblastosis fetalis |
This is a disease with oxygen deficiency (see anoxia) in the blood of the fetus caused by Rh incompatibility in the parents of the unborn baby. Rh incompatibility; when the mother and her child have incompatible blood groups. This occurs when the mother's blood type is Rh negative and the father's is Rh positive, resulting in an Rh positive child. Rh incompatibility is a serious disease which has greater consequences with each pregnancy.
