a prenatal diagnosis procedure performed at 10 to 12 weeks gestation which involves obtaining a sample of the placenta. The cells in the placenta generally represent the cells of the baby, and can be examined to look for chromosomal, biochemical or gene alterations in the baby. More on CVS...

Prenatal diagnostic procedure involving sampling the chorionic villi, generally performed between the tenth and twelfth weeks of pregnancy.
