The ulcer enlarges and the skin at the edge is purple-red. Ulcers can become quite large. This condition is associated with several other diseases, some of which are ulcerative colitis, crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, leukaemia, and cryoglobulinaemia. Pyoderma gangrenosum is usually responsive to corticosteroids.
