Zoomastigophorea a class comprising all of the animallike, as opposed to plantlike, protozoa (subphylum Mastigophora, phylum Sarcomastigophora), collectively called zooflagellates. Zoomastigophoreans lack chromatophores and are heterotrophic, and most are either commensal or parasitic. They have one to many flagella and some are capable of ameboid movement with or without flagella. It comprises one superorder, Parabasilidea, and six orders: Choanoflagellida, Kinetoplastida, Proteromonadina, Retortamonadida, Diplomonadida, and Oxymonadida. Cf. Phytomastigophorea.
