the clovers, a genus of herbs commonly fed to livestock. T. hy´bridum, the hybrid clover, can cause trifoliosis. T. re´pens, the white clover, contains cyanogenetic compounds and can cause cyanide poisoning. The flower heads of T. praten´se, the red clover, are used medicinally.
