a rare form of tinea corporis of the lower legs, also infecting the hairs, caused by Trichophyton rubrum; it is characterized by elevated, circumscribed, boggy red to blue granulomas, either disseminated or in chains; after persisting for several months the lesions are slowly absorbed or undergo necrosis, leaving depressed scars. Called also Majocchi's g. and tinea profunda.
