a genus of soil-inhabiting Fungi Imperfecti of the form-class Hyphomycetes, form-family Moniliaceae; some species contain trichothecenes and cause alimentary toxic aleukia. Its perfect (sexual) stage when found is in the genera Hypocrea and Pododerma.
