| 영문 | joint | 한글 | 관절 |
|---|---|---|---|

| transverse tarsal joint | The synovial joints between the talus and navicular bone medially and the calcaneus and navicular bones laterally which act as a unit in allowing the front of the foot to pivot relative to the back of the foot about the longitudinal axis of the foot, contributing to the total inversion and eversion movements. Synonym: articulatio tarsi transversa, Chopart's joint, midtarsal joint, transverse tarsal articulation. (05 Mar 2000) |

| transverse tarsal articulation | The synovial joints between the talus and navicular bone medially and the calcaneus and navicular bones laterally which act as a unit in allowing the front of the foot to pivot relative to the back of the foot about the longitudinal axis of the foot, contributing to the total inversion and eversion movements. Synonym: articulatio tarsi transversa, Chopart's joint, midtarsal joint, transverse tarsal articulation. (05 Mar 2000) |

| cyst, tarsal | Also called a chalazian or a Meibomian cyst, an inflammation of the oil gland of the eyelid. (12 Dec 1998) |
| superior tarsal muscle | <anatomy> A well defined layer of smooth muscle that extends from the aponeurosis of the musculus levator palpebrae superioris to the superior tarsus; it is innervated by sympathetic nerves and acts to hold the upper lid in an elevated position; its paralysis in Horner's syndrome result in ptosis. Synonym: musculus tarsalis superior, Muller's muscle. (05 Mar 2000) |
| inferior tarsal muscle | <anatomy> Poorly developed smooth muscle in the lower eyelid that acts to widen the palpebral fissure. Synonym: musculus tarsalis inferior. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tarsal | <anatomy> Of or pertaining to the tarsus (either of the foot or eye). A tarsal bone or cartilage; a tarsale. <medicine> Tarsal tetter, an eruptive disease of the edges of the eyelids; a kind of bleareye. <zoology> Same as Tercel. Source: Websters Dictionary (01 Mar 1998) |

| tarsal glands | Sebaceous glands embedded in the tarsal plate of each eyelid, discharging at the edge of the lid near the posterior border. Their secretions create a lipid barrier along the margin of the eyelids which contains the normal secretions in the conjunctival sac by preventing the watery fluid from spilling over the barrier when the eye is open. Synonym: glandulae tarsales, meibomian glands, palpebral glands. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tarsal joints | The synovial joints which unite the tarsal bones. Synonym: articulationes intertarseae, intertarsal articulations, tarsal joints. (05 Mar 2000) |
