acetylene tetrachloride, formed by the reaction of acetylene and chlorine; an industrial solvent and intermediate in the synthesis of chlorinated hydrocarbons. If ingested it causes a hepatotoxic condition called tetrachloroethane poisoning (see under poisoning).
