a focal subcorneal area of epidermal spongiosis lined with edematous epidermal cells and containing neutrophils in the intercellular spaces, which is a cardinal sign of active psoriasis, and found also in other dermatologic conditions such as seborrheic dermatitis and Reiter's disease.
