a nonmechanical method of emergency artificial respiration: with patient supine, rescuer pulls patient's arms firmly over head to raise the ribs and aid inhalation; the arms are then brought down and pressed against the chest to aid exhalation; procedure is repeated 16 times per minute. Called also chest pressure–arm lift m.
