| 설명 | 사람과 포유류 심장의 우심방과 우심실 사이에 있는 판. 우측 방실구(심방과 심실을 연락하는 구멍) 주위에서 시작되는 세 개의 얇은 판막과, 그 자유연에 부착되어 있는 많은 끈으로 되어 있다. 건삭은 결합조직으로 된 가는 끈인데, 그 반대쪽 끝의 일부는 우심실벽에 부착되고, 일부는 심실벽에서 뻗어나온 유두근에 부착되어 있다. 이 판막장치는 심실이 이완되어 있을 때 우심방으로부터 우심실로 흘러들어간 혈액이 심실이 수축할 때에 심방으로 역류하는 것을 막는 것으로서 왼쪽에 있는 이첨판에 해당된다. |

| 설명 | 선천적으로 심장 내의 심방사이중격(interatrial septum)이나 심실사이중격(interventricular septum)이 결손되어 혈류가 정상적으로 흐르지 않는 경우. 정상적인 경우 혈류는 정맥에서 우심방으로 모여 우심실을 거친뒤 폐로 가서 산소를 공급받고 다시 왼심방, 왼심실을 차례로 거쳐 대동맥으로 간다. 하지만, 이 경우는 혈류가 압력이 높은 왼심방이나 왼심실에서 압력이 낮은 우심방이나 우심실로 흐르게 된다. 따라서 동맥피와 정맥피가 섞이게 되고, 환자는 호흡곤란, 성장발육장애, 심잡음 등이 나타나고, 심한 경우 청색증으로 발전하기도 한다. 치료는 수술적으로 이 결손부위를 막아 주어야 한다. |

| 설명 | 승모판이 좌심실운동시 제대로 닫혀주지 못하고 빠져나오는 상태로서 주로 젊은 여성에게서 발견된다. 다른 말로 청진상의 소견을 따서 “clickmurmur syndrome”이라고도 하고 혹은 처음 발견한 의사의 이름을 따서 “Barlow's syndrome”이라고도 한다. 개 정상적인 삶을 누리게 되나, 일부에서 심내막염(심장내막의 염증: endocarditis)의 위험이 증가하므로 치과적 시술시 예방적 항생제가 필요하기도 하다. |

| 설명 | 심장 내부의 인공판막. 심장의 판막이 어떤 원인으로 손상되어 판막의 기능이 유지될 수 없을 때 이 판막을 성형해서 다시 사용하거나(판막성형술) 인공판막으로 치환(판막치환술)해 주어야 한다. 인공판막에는 크게 두 가지가 있는데 하나는 돼지나 소 등의 생체조직으로 만든 조직판막이고 다른 하나는 금속재질로 만든 기계판막이다. 이 두 판막은 서로 장단점이 있는데, 조직판막은 수명이 10년 정도로 짧은 단점이 있는 반면에 판막 주위에 혈액응고가 적어 항응고제 복용이 필요 없고, 손상이 서서히 일어난다. |
