Scopulariopsis A genus of filamentous fungi rarely pathogenic for humans; several species have been implicated in onychomycosis, ulcerating granuloma, and other "mycotic" entities. Penicillium-like, it is common in nature and generally a contaminant in laboratory cultures of human tissues.
Origin: Mod. L. Scopula, a small broom, + G. Opsis, appearance
