pulmonary infarction localized necrosis of lung tissue caused by obstruction of the arterial blood supply, most often due to pulmonary embolism. Clinical manifestations range from the subclinical to pleuritic chest pain, dyspnea, hemoptysis, and tachycardia.

pulmonary infarction PI is an an infrequent consequence of Pulmonary Edema(< 10% of cases). It is sometimes due to thrombosis in situ of the pulmonary arteries as might occur in congenital heart disease associated with severe pulmonary hypertension or in hematologic disorders (eg, sickle cell anemia).
