| phosphotungstic acid |
a strong acid and oxidizing agent used as a protein precipitant and color reagent; alkaloids, nitrogenous bases, and other substances reduce phosphotungstic acid to tungsten blue. It is also used in histology as a mordant for hematoxylin and other dyes.
