[EC 4.2.1.11] an enzyme of the lyase class that catalyzes the dehydration of 2-phosphoglycerate to form phosphoenolpyruvate, a part of the Embden-Meyerhof pathway of glucose catabolism (see illustration at pathway). Called also enolase.
