phalloidin <molecular biology> Cyclic peptide (789D) from the Death Cap fungus (Amanita phalloides) that binds to and stabilises, F actin. Fluorescent derivatives are used to stain actin in fixed and permeabilised cells, although there is some uptake by live cells.
