Some organisms, like Olympic's Cope's Giant Salamander, have the ability to retain ancestral juvenile characteristics throughout successive stages of their lifecycle. Even though paedomophic species appear to be juveniles, they still have the ability to reproducess successfully.

Paedomorphic organisms retain some juvenile (or larval) characteristics during thier adult stage. An example of a paedomophic species is Cope's Giant Salamander; although it apprears to be a juvenile throughout its life, it can successfully reproduce.
