o'nyong-nyong virus an arbovirus of the genus Alphavirus, closely related to chikungunya virus, that causes o'nyong-nyong, a dengue-like disease, in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, and Senegal; it is transmitted by anopheline mosquitoes.

o'nyong-nyong an acute, nonfatal febrile disease due to an alphavirus, transmitted by anopheline mosquitoes, occurring in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, and Senegal, and clinically resembling dengue and chikungunya; it is characterized by lymphadenitis, joint pains, and an extremely pruritic morbilliform skin rash. Called also o'nyong-nyong fever.
