mucogingival junction a sharply scalloped, generally indistinct line running parallel with the free margin, separating the gingival tissue from that of the oral mucosa; visible under the microscope. Called also mucogingival line.

mucogingival junction The scalloped linear area denoting the approximation or separation of the gingiva and the alveolar mucosa.

mucogingival junction A scalloped, indistinct boundary between the gingiva and the oral mucosa on the alveolar process. The coral color of gingiva may be contrasted with the more vascular oral mucosa. Also called the mucogingival line.
