| 설명 | 어떤 생물 조직체가 선천적으로 가지고 있는 동작이나 운동. 즉, 경험과 학습에 의하지 않고 선천적으로 갖춘 성능이나 반응의 복합체를 말한다. 아기가 젖을 빤다든지 병아리가 알을 깨고 나오는 행동 따위이다. 본능은 경험으로 습득할 수 없는 능력으로서 학습과 대립하여 논의되지만 실제 행동에서 본능과 학습을 구별한다는 것은 쉬운 일이 아니다. 특히 동물의 발전단계가 고등화됨에 따라서 성숙에서 오는 본능행동과 학습에서 오는 행동은 구별하기 어렵다. 꿀벌이나 비둘기가 먼 곳에서 집으로 돌아오는 것은 귀소본능 때문이라고 하지만, 이러한 행동도 여러 번 횟수를 거듭하여 촉진된다는 것이 알려졌다. |
