AB lymphocyte lymphoma that arises from the malignant transformation of a mantle zone cell, the area that is the outer edge and a part of the lymph node follicle. It usually is associated with widespread lymph node, spleen, liver and gastrointestinal tract involvement. Some cases behave as low-grade lymphoma but others are more rapidly progressive.

a rare form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma having a usually diffuse pattern with both small lymphocytes and small cleaved cells; it may be a subgroup of diffuse, small cleaved cell lymphoma. It mainly affects people over 50 years of age and runs an indolent course, although it may metastasize to the spleen or liver.
