A form of business licensure in which an applicant is granted a license or permit to conduct or engage in the provision of health services within a specific type of institution or setting. Inpatient, outpatient, and non-patient health facilities are licensed by State regulatory agencies with statutory authority to license, certify, inspect, or otherwise approve or disapprove the operation of specific types of health facilities.
