| histomoniasis |
an infectious protozoal disease caused by Histomonas meleagridis, which is especially lethal to turkeys although chickens and other fowl may also be affected. It is characterized by ulcerative and necrotic lesions of the cecum and liver, and the head may be cyanotic. Called also blackhead and enterohepatitis.
