[EC 2.4] any enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of glycosyl groups from one molecule to another; the glycosyltransferases include the hexosyltransferases (EC 2.4.1), the pentosyltransferases (EC 2.4.2), and those transferring other glycosyl groups (EC 2.4.99). Called also transglycosylase.
