a transport system occurring in the endoplasmic reticulum of liver, kidney, and intestinal mucosa cells; it transports glucose 6-phosphate into the endoplasmic reticulum, where glucose-6-phosphatase is located. Deficiency of this system results in glycogen storage disease, type IB.
