Richard's fringes The irregularly branched or fringed processes surrounding the ampulla at the abdominal opening of the uterine tube; most of the lining epithelial cells have cilia that beat toward the uterus.
Synonym: fimbriae tubae uterinae, laciniae tubae, Richard's fringes.

Fresnel fringes <microscopy> A class of diffraction fringes formed when the source of illumination and viewing screen are at a finite distance from a diffracting edge.
In the electron microscope these fringes are best seen when the object is slightly out of focus.
