frenulum linguae The lingual frenulum; a fold of tissue from the floor of the mouth to the mid-line of the undersurface of the tongue. A short lingual frenulum is described as tongue-tie, which can affect the elevation of the tongue tip to the palate for production of specific sounds (generally L, T, D), but is rarely clinically significant.
