| 설명 | 사춘기 전에 성기가 거세되거나, 발달하지 못해 성기 발육부전으로 제 2차 성징이 나타나지 않은 상태를 말한다. 이는 고환에서 호르몬이 생산되지 못하기 때문에 나타나는 증상이다. 팔다리가 지나치게 길어지고, 좁은 어깨, 미약한 근육 등의 중성적인 몸매를 나타낸다. 성숙한 뒤에 고환을 제거하면 고자증 증후가 뚜렷하진 않다. |

| 설명 | 고환의 분비부족으로, 성능력이 감퇴되어 고자증상을 동반하는 상태. 선천적으로 고환의 발육이 나빠 남성호르몬이 부족하기 때문에 남성의 외성기 발육이 나쁜 병. 환관(내시)과 비슷하다는 뜻에서 붙인 병명이다. 음경을 비롯하여 외음부의 발육이 나쁘고, 사춘기가 지나도 5~6세 정도의 크기밖에 되지 않으며, 음모-겨드랑털도 나지 않는다. 성욕도 일어나지 않고 변성도 되지 않으며, 팔과 다리가 길어진다. 치료로는 남성호르몬이나 성샘자극호르몬을 주사하면 불충분하지만 성기는 발육하여도 정자가 없으므로 불임증은 치유되지 않는다. 옛 용어: 유환관증(類宦官症) |
