an anthracycline antibiotic that is a stereoisomer of doxorubicin, having the same antineoplastic actions as but lower toxicity than doxorubicin; used in the treatment of carcinoma of the breast, ovary, stomach, colon, and rectum, leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, administered intravenously. Available as epirubicin hydrochloride.
