refers to combined non-REM sleep stages 3 and 4 in sleep studies dsps (delayed sleep phase syndrome): a circadian rhythm sleep disorder characterized by difficulty achieving sleep onset in the evening and difficulty waking up at a desired time in the morning. It involves a desired sleep time out of sync with physiologic sleep time.
