Synonym: gak protein
(26 Jun 1999)
MAP kinase kinase kinase <enzyme> From pc12 cells; reactivates map kinase kinase inactivated by protein phosphatase 2a by phosphorylation of serine residues; tak1 (tgf-beta-activated kinase 1) is a member of the mapkkk family; genbank ab006787 (mouse)

cyclin <protein> Proteins (A and B forms known) whose levels in a cell varies markedly during the cell cycle, rising steadily until mitosis, then falling abruptly to zero. As cyclins reach a threshold level, they are though to drive cells into G2 phase and thus to mitosis. Cyclins combine with p34 kinase (cdc2) to form maturation-promoting factor (MPF).
See: M phase promoting factor.
(18 Nov 1997)
cyclin a A 33-kD protein identical to adenovirus e1a-associated protein p60. Cyclin a regulates p33cdk2 and p34cdc2, and is necessary for progression through the s phase of the cell cycle.
(12 Dec 1998)
cyclin b A 58-kD protein that is regulated post-transcriptionally and post-translationally in the cell cycle.
(12 Dec 1998)
cyclin d1 Protein encoded by the bcl-1 gene which plays a critical role in regulating the cell cycle. Overexpression of cyclin d1 is the result of bcl-1 rearrangement, a t(11;14) translocation, and is implicated in various neoplasms.
(12 Dec 1998)
cyclin-dependent kinases Protein kinases that control cell cycle progression in all eukaryotes and require physical association with cyclins to achieve full enzymatic activity. Cyclin-dependent kinases are regulated by phosphorylation and dephosphorylation events.
(12 Dec 1998)
cyclin e A 50-kD protein that complexes with cdk2 in the late g1 phase of the cell cycle.
(12 Dec 1998)
AMP-activated protein kinase kinase <enzyme> An endogenous kinase kinase; reactivates the inactive form of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMP-pk); phosphorylates the 63-kD subunit of AMP-pk
Registry number: EC 2.7.1.-
Synonym: AMP-pk reactivator, hmg CoA reductase kinase kinase
(26 Jun 1999)
calmodulin-dependent protein kinase IV kinase <enzyme> Phosphorylates and activates cam-kinase iv; from brain
Registry number: EC 2.7.10.-
Synonym: cam-kinase iv kinase
(26 Jun 1999)
MAPKAP kinase-2 reactivating kinase <enzyme> A mapk-like enzyme; homologous to p42(mapk) and p44(mapk); activated by phosphorylation of serine/threonine and tyrosine residues
Registry number: EC 2.7.1.-
Synonym: mapkap kinase-2 rk
(26 Jun 1999)
ribosomal protein S6 kinase kinase <enzyme> Isolated from unfertilised xenopus eggs; a 41 kD enzyme that is associated, in vivo, with phosphorylation on threonine and tyrosine residues and, in vitro, with phosphorylation on serine as well
Registry number: EC 2.7.1.-
Synonym: rsk kinase
(26 Jun 1999)
protein kinase B kinase <enzyme> Phosphorylates and activates protein kinase b on threonine-308; requires phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate
Registry number: EC 2.7.10.-
Synonym: upstream kinase, pkb kinase
(26 Jun 1999)

(26 Jun 1999)
acetate kinase <enzyme> An enzyme that catalyses reversibly the phosphorylation of acetate in the presence of a divalent cation and ATP with the formation of acetylphosphate and ADP. It is important in the glycolysis process.
Chemical name: ATP:acetate phosphotransferase
