| 설명 | 콩팥의 깔때기 또는 술잔에 형성된 돌을 말하며 요저류, 감염, 요량 감소 등이 있을 때 잘 나타나는 것으로 알려져 있다. 증상은 옆구리나 측복부에 갑자기 생기는 심한 동통, 육안적이나 현미경적 혈뇨, 척추갈비뼈각 압통이 있을 수 있으나 경우에 따라 증상이 없이 우연하게 발견되는 수도 있다. 진단은 요검사나 요배양검사, 혈액검사, 방사선검사를 이용해서 하며 치료방침은 그 돌의 활성도에 따라 다량의 수분 섭취나 진통제를 사용해서 자연배출을 유도하거나 체외충격파 쇄석술, 내비뇨기과적 쇄석술, 수술요법, 내과적 요법을 사용한다. 돌의 활성도란 동통, 폐색현상, 돌의 크기 증가 여부, 새로운 돌의 발생에 의하여 결정되어진다. |

| crossed embolism | Passage of a clot (thrombus) from a vein to an artery. When clots in veins break off (embolise) , they travel first to the right side of the heart and, normally, then to the lungs where they lodge. The lungs act as a filter to prevent the clots from entering the arterial circulation. However, when there is a hole in the wall between the two upper chambers of the heart (an atrial septal defect), a clot can crossparadoxically from the right to the left side of the heart, then pass into the arteries. Once in the arterial circulation, a clot can travel to the brain, block a vessel there, and cause a stroke (cerebrovascular accident).
