| 설명 | 정상적으로 어떤 한 점을 주시할 때, 눈은 그 점을 향하여 같은 방향을 주시하도록 되어 있다. 이 이유는 그 점에 대해 양쪽 눈의 망막대응점(corresponding retinal point)이 서로 동일하기 때문이다. 그러나, 어떤 이유로든 망막대응점이 달라지게 되면, 한 점을 주시할 때 한쪽 눈은 한쪽을 바라보는 데 다른 쪽 눈은 그 반대쪽을 바라보게 된다. 이것을 사시라고 하는 데 여기에는 그 방향에 따라 내사시, 외사시, 상사시, 하사시 등이 있다. |

| convergent evolution | The process where two unrelated structures in unrelated organisms evolve to perform similar functions. (The structures are called analogous structures.) For example: the wings of bats, birds, and insects evolved separately from each other but all are used to perform the function of flying.
