| continuous epidural analgesia |
a method of pain relief consisting of continuous bathing of lumbar or thoracic nerve roots within the epidural space with an injected anesthetic solution; used during labor and childbirth, in general surgery for blockage of pain pathways below the umbilicus, and postoperatively. Called also continuous epidural anesthesia.
