| circovirus | A genus of the family circoviridae that infects fowl, swine, and psittacine birds. It is the only DNA virus affecting mammals which contains a single-stranded circular genome. The three species are chicken anaemia virus causing transient anaemia and immunosuppression in baby chicks; beak and feather disease virus causing a fatal disease in psittacine birds; and porcine circovirus, not yet associated with any disease.
