arthropathy, neurogenic Chronic progressive degeneration of the stress-bearing portion of a joint, with bizarre hypertrophic changes at the periphery. It is probably a complication of a variety of neurologic disorders, particularly tabes dorsalis, involving loss of sensation, which leads to relaxation of supporting structures and chronic instability of the joint.

Jaccoud's arthropathy A rare form of chronic arthritis, reported to occur after attacks of acute rheumatic fever, characterised by an unusual form of bone erosion of the metacarpal heads and by ulnar deviation of the fingers; it resembles rheumatoid arthritis, but with less overt inflammation, and rheumatoid factor is absent.
Synonym: Jaccoud's arthropathy.
